FBI agents Fox Mulder and Dana Scully investigate a series of brutal murders in Baltimore, where victims are found with their livers savagely torn out. The killings mirror unsolved cases dating back to 1903, all linked to Eugene Victor Tooms—a sinister man who never seems to age. Mulder suspects Tooms is a genetic mutant able to contort his body through impossibly narrow spaces, hibernating for thirty years before resuming his hunt for human livers. Scully, grounded in science, struggles to reconcile the impossible evidence. As Tooms sets his sights on new prey—including Scully herself—the agents race to stop him.
