The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde

The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde

Robert Louis Stevenson's Gothic novella follows London lawyer Gabriel Utterson as he investigates the mysterious connection between his respected friend, Dr. Henry Jekyll, and the sinister Edward Hyde. Hyde commits brutal crimes, including murder, while Jekyll strangely protects him. As Utterson digs deeper, Jekyll grows increasingly reclusive and disturbed. The truth emerges after Jekyll's death: he had created a potion that separated his good and evil natures, transforming him into Hyde. Initially enjoying this double life, Jekyll soon found himself changing without the potion. Trapped and unable to obtain the necessary chemicals, he chose death, confessing that Hyde's evil had finally consumed him.
