The Time Machine

"The Time Machine" by H.G. Wells, published in 1895, is a pioneering work of science fiction. An English inventor, known only as the Time Traveller, demonstrates a machine capable of journeying through time. Traveling to the year 802,701, he discovers humanity divided into two species: the fragile, childlike Eloi who live in comfort above ground, and the savage Morlocks who dwell underground. The Traveller learns the Morlocks prey upon the Eloi. After losing his machine, he must fight to recover it, then ventures even further into a distant future revealing Earth's ultimate fate.
