Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde

Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde

Written by Robert Louis Stevenson in 1886, this Gothic novella explores the duality of human nature. Dr. Henry Jekyll, a respected London physician, creates a potion that releases his dark alter ego, Mr. Edward Hyde. As Hyde, Jekyll indulges in immoral acts, including murder. His friend, lawyer Mr. Utterson, becomes suspicious and investigates the mysterious connection between the two men. Gradually, Jekyll loses control over the transformations, and Hyde begins to emerge without the potion. Trapped and hunted, Jekyll ultimately takes his own life. The novel remains a chilling exploration of good and evil coexisting within one person.
