In the war-scarred countryside of post-war England, three taverns stand along an old Roman road, each sheltering a soul in flight. When a mysterious stranger arrives seeking answers about his brother's disappearance, his journey links the taverns' keepers: a widowed innkeeper guarding a wartime secret, a retired smuggler drowning in debt, and a young woman posing as a boy to escape her past. As their stories entwine, long-buried betrayals surface, and each traveler must decide whether truth or mercy matters more. A haunting tale of loss, redemption, and the unlikely sanctuaries strangers build for one another.
